University Park, PA (WJAC) — Is Penn State moving closer to closing some Commonwealth campuses?
That’s a primary question with the university now offering buyouts to commonwealth campus employees, which they're calling "voluntary separations."
Penn State says the decision is due to a significant drop in enrollment at the campuses while it continues to work on lowering its operating budget deficit.
The university says involuntary layoffs could happen in the future.
The Penn State Nittany Lions suffered their first defeat to the Ohio State Buckeyes Saturday.
Heisman candidate, Marvin Harrison Jr. Led the Buckeyes to a 20-12 victory.
Harrison Jr. Recorded 11 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown.
Penn State’s Curtis Jacobs nearly scored a defensive touchdown in the first half, but a defensive holding penalty on Kalen King negated the score.
Ohio State (7-0) would score that same drive, going into the second half with a 10-3 lead.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Sidney Crosby insists he's not a scoreboard watcher. Not publicly anyway.
Maybe it's because the Pittsburgh Penguins' longtime captain is too occupied with his team to worry about anyone else. Or maybe it's because Crosby never had much reason to check during Pittsburgh's run to 16 straight playoff berths between 2007 and 2022.
Or maybe it's simply because Crosby doesn't have to check his phone to figure out where the Penguins stand.
HARRISBURG, Pa (WJAC) — On Friday, Congressman John Joyce sent a letter to Gov. Tom Wolf in response to the contact tracing data breach that was uncovered earlier in the week.
The massive data breach reportedly compromised the personal information of more than 72,000 Pennsylvanians, and Congressman Joyce is urging the Governor to address the incident.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, you and your administration have enthusiastically encouraged Pennsylvanians to participate in contact tracing facilitated by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and its vendor, Insight Global,” wrote Dr.
BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Court documents are revealing new details about what led to a standoff between a woman and state police in Bedford County over the weekend.
According to a criminal complaint filed by state police, 57-year-old Catherine Imler is facing charges related to burglary, criminal trespassing and theft.

Johnstown, PA — A local fire department is without one of their vehicles after being involved in a separate crash while responding to the scene of another crash last week.
A crew from the Nanty Glo Fire Department was responding to a deadly crash Friday afternoon when they themselves crashed.
Now, that fire truck awaits repairs.
The Nanty Glo Fire Chief tells Channel 6 – the crash involving one of his fire trucks occurred only a few miles away from the crash they were responding to on Swigle Mountain Road.
CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Officials at Parker Dam State Park say they are taking safety measures as they prepare for the warmer weather, so if you come to the beach area over the next several weeks, you may seem some unfamiliar faces.
Jeremiah Irvin works as the environmental interpretive technician at Parker Dam State Park and says that they are using coyote decoys to try and steer Canadian geese away from settling down in the park.
PLUM, Pa. (AP) — The co-owner of a home that exploded in western Pennsylvania last weekend has died from injuries he suffered in the blast, which also killed his wife and four other people.
Paul Oravitz, 56, who had severe burns over most of his body, died Wednesday in a Pittsburgh hospital, four days after the explosion in Plum. The town is about 20 miles east of Pittsburgh.
The cause of the blast - which destroyed three structures and damaged at least a dozen others - remains under investigation, but officials have said Oravitz and his wife, Heather, were having issues with their hot water tank.
