CHISINAU, Moldova (AP) — U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday pledged $135 million in aid to Moldova for energy security and to counter Russian disinformation as the Western-leaning nation struggles to blunt Moscow’s push for influence that has been buoyed by recent successes in its war in neighboring Ukraine.
Blinken opened a short visit to Eastern Europe with a stop in Chisinau, Moldova's capital, where he announced the assistance at a news conference with President Maia Sandu.

The Illinois legislature, which ended spring session early Wednesday, won’t act on anything regarding a new Bears stadium until this fall at the earliest, if at all.

A Lititz Fire Company firefighter was caught on camera over the weekend rushing into a barn engulfed in flames to rescue the owner's pet dog from the blaze. Pittsburgh (WJAC) — Allegheny County police say a 15-year-old boy was arrested in relation to a shooting last month at Kennywood Park that left three people injured, including himself.
Police announced Thursday that Darryl Pirl will be charged as an adult with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a minor and recklessly endangering another person.
Police say they believe two guns were fired during a fight inside the park.
ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) -- The city of Altoona is considering eliminating 15 full-time positions, including police and firefighters, citing decreased revenues during COVID-19.
“The city faces about a $1 million budget shortfall,” said Ken Decker, Altoona city manager. “Revenues, mostly due to COVID-19, are falling.”
Decker said Altoona businesses and residents have been feeling the effects of the pandemic, meaning the city is hurting too.
“When those people are out of work, I mean unemployment tripled in Altoona for a period of time, there’s just fewer people paying taxes,” Decker said.
HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) -- More inmates from the Blair County Prison are walking free after the courts granted bail reductions to help cut down the prison population.
The prison has been operating with around 220 inmates, releasing roughly one-third of its normal population since the start of the pandemic.
A decision by the Blair County Court of common Pleas allowed for the release of inmates charged with violent crimes, including one waiting to be tried for attempted homicide.
